Ingredients

  • 1 (17.3-oz.) package frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed

  • ½ cup cranberry sauce

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

  • All-purpose flour, for dusting work surface

  • Confectioners sugar, for dusting

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Lightly flour your work surface then unfold both sheets of puff pastry
  • Using a rolling pin, lightly roll each sheet to seal together any perforations
  • Cut each sheet of puff pastry into 9-inch circle
  • Place one of the circles on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Spread cranberry sauce spread evenly onto puff pastry circle, leaving ½ inch border around the edges of the circle
  • Place the second puff pastry circle on top
  • Place a glass or Mason jar face-down in the center of puff pastry.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut pastry into 4 equal strips, stopping at the border of the glass.
  • Cut through each quarter to make 8 strips, then once more to produce a total of 16 equal strips, while keeping the center intact.
  • Twist 2 strips away from each other; pull outward and seal seams together.
  • Repeat with remaining strips until pastry resembles a star. Brush top with beaten egg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until puffy and golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and set it aside to cool slightly before dusting it with confectioners sugar and serving
